Today's Sermon Title
is Film Festival We encourage our Church Family and Friends as well as the members of MCC Venice and MCC Celebrations to attend the films viewing on September 14th and September 21st in the Sanctuary. On the 14th we will be viewing Shadow of Hate (Ethnic Discrimination), Endangered Species (Urban Blight) and Essential Blue-Eyed (Research study of forced discrimination) On Sunday the 21st we will be watching Paper Clips (Holocaust) and For the Bible Tells Me So (Gay & Lesbian) A CAR WASH to benefit the "Would Jesus Discriminate?" campaign will be held at the church on Saturday, September 20th from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. If you are able and willing to help please sign up at the label table. Tee shirts ($12) are available as well as bumper stickers ($1) Three baskets are up for a raffle (Tickers - $1 for one and five for $6) Voices Choir practice will begin on Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:30 PM. Let's have a joyful noise for the Lord. Sopranos needed to lighten the load and encouraged to join the Choir. AND SPEAKING OF Voices The Southwest Florida Gay and Lesbian Chorus had a great turn out. But we always need more and there's still time. Talk with Jodi Jackson or Allen Klesh, or just come to the meeting on September 2nd at the church. OUR FOOD PANTRY - always in need of canned or packaged food and cash contributions too. The pantry can use canned fruit and fruit juices with 'pop' tops. Food contributions may be left in the box at the door to the pantry. ALUMINUM CANS & TABS - Please remember to place empty aluminum cans in either of the two containers marked, CANS. The tabs can be placed in the container on the coffee table. St. John sells the cans for recycling and the tabs are taken to the Ronald McDonald House. ART DISPLAY - If you or any artist would like to display their framed art work to sell, please contact the church office. The church will receive 10% of any sale. There will be a contract between the artist and the church office. SANCTUARY ENHANCEMENT As you know, the Sanctuary enhancement is getting ready to get started. They will be doing the work of putting in the new sound/video booth and equipment started September 8th and should be done by September 13th. (Yeah!). We're looking for volunteers to help man (or woman) the new system. Don't know what you're doing? Negative perspiration (no sweat), we'll teach you!

Help is needed for mowing our lawns and cleaning the interior of our
building - vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning five rest rooms if
you are available on a regular weekly basis or just one time please
contact Doug Reed, Vice-Moderator or Kathy Mostowski, Board Member
or the church office. Your care in cleanliness after the use
of our kitchen and five restrooms is always appreciated. ENTERTAINMENT - 21A, A comedy by Kevin Kling will be presented at the Conspiracy Theater on Saturday September 6th at 8:00 PM. This one man tour-de-force stars Jesse St. Louis playing all eight roles of individuals on a bus. This hilarious and different work won the Heidemann Award at the Humana Festival. Flower dedications may be requested by signing, the "flower dedications board" in the Parlor area and by dropping off a donation of $40 (annotated flower donation) in the collection plate or with the treasurer or church office. Communion dedications may also be requested on the adjacent board in the Parlor. This is a $30 donation. CHURCH LIBRARY - we now have St. John's Lending Library and we can always use additional books if you have one or two or more that you would like to donate bring them in. A few books have been donated which you may borrow. There will be no sign out of books--just borrow it and return it when you have finished. The Lee County Health Department will provide anonymous, confidential HIV testing on the FIRST and THIRD TUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH 11AM - 2 PM AT SJAMCC. Free. Also Hepatitis A and B vaccinations.
